Gyroscope March News

Welcome to the March news from

Welcome to the month of March friends of Gyroscope. 2011 is slipping away slowly already, so let's get right into the good stuff....

Gyroscope took off to the east coast last month for some very massive and sweaty headline shows in Frankston and Ferntree Gully. These were Gyroscope's last headline shows in the Melbourne area for some time, so we hope you got your fix if you managed to make it along! Heck, one lucky lady was even proposed to during the Ferntree Gully show, so they must have been inspiring shows! Congratulations to the lucky couple from all at Gyro HQ.

Next up, Gyro's took off to sunny Launceston for their long awaited MS Fest performance. Hitting the stage amongst some of Australia's very finest live acts, Gyroscope really held their own (in fact, we heard they were the highlight of the day) Check out some of the action in the MS Fest highlights video at www.msfest.com.au

Now Adelaide, it's your turn next! The Gyro juggernaut is coming your way tomorrow night, with the band poised for a loud and rockin' set at the annual Clipsal 500 after race concert. Rounding out this stunning bill is Birds of Tokyo, Children Collide, Dead Letter Circus and The Killjoys. Killer line-up, be sure to check it all out at: www.clipsal500.com.au

Well, in some exciting news that is not related to touring (sometimes we get carried away and think there is nothing else!) the very talented lads from Gyroscope have been included in the shortlist for the International Songwriting Competition! Yep; Baby, I'm Gettin' Better is up for selection in the ROCK category (of course). Have a look at all the shortlisted artists, many of whom are Australian, right here.

Continuing with the non-touring theme (although this is Big Day Out related...) we thought we would draw your attention to this swell catch up that Brad & Rob had with MTV while on the Big Day Out tour back in January. Rob gets very excited about tour mates Remmstein. Catch this one right here.

Coming up really soon now is the Groovin' the Moo festival tour. These shows are all selling fast so if you're planning to catch the wonderful Gyros on these dates get in quick to secure your spot, And there we go, harping on about touring again...it's all just so exciting all of the time, we can't help it.

That is all for now.
Take care!
Gyro HQ xx

Gyroscope February News

Welcome to the February news

Greetings Gyro-fanatics. Welcome to the February news, there is a lot to get in here so let's get right into it...

Tonight Gyroscope will be making quite the racket at Melbourne's Ferntree Gully Hotel, joined by local livewires Fangs. Tomorrow night the four Gyros will be exploding onto stage at Frankston's Pier Live, heading up a similarly tasty bill. There will be some tickets at the door for both of these shows, so if you're in the area (or can get to the area!) be sure to get yourselves down to these shows nice and early. They are likely to be Gyroscope's last Melbourne shows for quite some time, we know that you will miss them.

Gyroscope have already been very busy ripping up stages, and we are not even a third of the way through 2011. Who managed to catch Gyros destroying the Essential Stage at any of the 2011 Big Days Out? This was the guys second trip out with the touring circus and they might have even been better this year than last time around. Crowds were sweaty but undeniably huge and the band pulled out a brilliant mixture of older favourites and newer hits, sending people into a Gyro-tinged friendly. Everybody had a lot of fun.

Amongst Gyroscope's busy Big Day Out schedule were a few interviews. You can see for yourself first hand how everything went down at the Big Day Out, including Brad and Rob discussing meal tickets and inter-band snobbery with
Hit List TV. There are also some swell photos over at the Nova website. Big Day Out Gyro-mania - enjoy!

Something else that happened while Gyroscope were gallivanting around with the Big Day Out was triple j's Hottest 100. And what a big list it was this year. Biased as we are we think it would not have been quite so big without the inclusion of Baby, I'm Gettin' Better, which landed at a very awesome #40. Thanks for all the votes folks, check out the full list
here. Gyroscope also scored two more songs in the list 100-200, check out all of the songs that ALMOST made it here.

It seems that the mob responsible for the impressive 2011 Groovin' the Moo line-up agree that Gyroscope are on a bit of a roll; the band will be playing every date on the tour! This means that Gyroscope are headed to some regional locations they have not had an opportunity to impress for quite some time. The band will take off to Bendigo, Townsville, Maitland, Canberra and Bunbury. We hear Bendigo has already sold out, so if you are keen to get along to another of the dates be quick and head over to:
www.gtm.net.au.

So, thought we might leave you with a bit of an oldie but a goodie this month. The blooper reel from Gyroscope's What Do I Know About Pain video is pretty priceless, and if you haven't managed to watch is yet it's definitely worth a few minutes. As is the rest of the Gyroscope Youtube page really, check it all out at: www.youtube.com/gyroscope. Some great video from throughout the years there, you can have a Gyro nostalgia trip.

Until next time.

Love,

Gyro HQ xx

Welcome to the January news from

Welcome to a brand new year Gyro-friends! We are well aware it is the last day of January, but we were holding out to bring you some exciting news direct from the 2011 Big Day Out tour. Well, as is to be expected - Gyroscope have been absolutely slaying crowds! Their set is one big loud rockin' mixture of cuts from all four of the bands' albums, plus a sneaky little Nirvana cover (but we're not going to tell you which one) Thus far the Gyros have knocked over the Gold Coast, Sydney & Melbourne dates. Check out some awesome live photos on Fasterlouder right here. Look out Adelaide and Perth, the Gyroscope juggernaut will be careering your way later this week.

Also, the Gyros have brought some killer new merch designs on the road with the Big Day Out, so be sure to stop by the merch stand in Adelaide and Perth to check them out. Leftovers will be hitting the Gyroscope webstore in the coming months.

Way back in December Gyroscope helped to pump people up for their outrageous New Year’s Eve, taking to the stage at Victoria’s Pyramid Rock Festival. We hear they tore the stage apart, Rob even snapped this wild photo on his phone from behind the drum kit:

In other news, Zok has gone and scored himself his very own custom guitar! The friendly blokes over at Cole Clark put together a very swell looking instrument completely to Zok’s specs, sweet! Here is a picture to drool over. He has even been bringing it out on the Big Day Out.

Don’t forget – for those unlucky Victorians who missed out on Big Day Out tickets there are two big headline Gyroscope shows coming up in Frankston and Ferntree Gully. February cannot come soon enough, and tickets are on sale now. Be sure to check the dates and secure your tickets here: http://gyroscope.oztix.com.au/

Well, this has been brief, but there is a whole swag of exciting announcements to be made in the coming weeks. The next issue will recap on all of the Big Day Out action, along with shedding some more light in what Gyroscope will be up to as 2011 swings into gear.

Love,

Gyro HQ xx

Gyroscope December News

Welcome to the December News from

Yes, this is the final 2010 news update from Gyroscope, and what a colossal year this has been for the band! Not only did the bands rockin' fourth album Cohesion debut at a massive #3 on the ARIA charts, their stupidly catchy Baby, I'm Gettin' Better single has gone gold and beyond. Many thanks to all of you dedicated Gyro-nerds who have supported the band through one more incredible year.

Something that Gyroscope have also delivered on this year is the huge shows they have been pulling out all over the country. They have been keeping the good times coming this past month, including a massive
JD Set performance at WA's stunning Rottnest Island last weekend. With headlining duties being filled by The Living End, the Gyro's put on a great show right by the seaside. We hear Dan even scarpered off into the sea mid set for some very wet riffage, sweet! We don't have photos of that just yet but there are a few to be checked out here.

Moving on - Gyroscope have announced a great big Christmas show at Studio 146 in
Albany, WA. on December 26th (supported by Homebrewe) They have also let it be known that the Gyro machine will be headlining some great shows in Victoria come February (supported by locals Fangs) Tickets for both shows are on sale right now, so snap yours up and get excited right here: www.oztix.com.au / 1300 762 545

Of course, there are plenty of other opportunities to see the Gyros do their thing as summer well and truly sets in. The last time Gyroscope fronted up to perform at the
Pyramid Rock Festival a couple of years back they were buffeted with heavy rain and strong winds, but the weather did little to dampen the bands energetic live show, this time around things can only get better and more exciting! And of course there is the annual travelling circus that is the awesome Big Day Out tour. Things just keep moving ahead for Gyroscope, and we hope you manage to catch up with them over summer!

Now, to round out this end of year message - bargains! Our friends at Fist 2 Face are running a
Gyroscope Official Merch Store Christmas sale! It kicks off in the coming week or so and there will be some great Gyro bargains going, so be sure to check it out at: www.fist2face.com.au/?gyroscope. Alternatively, if you wish to give the gift of Gyroscope to a loved one this holiday season, we strongly recommend you get them onto Cohesion at iTunes. With a bonus track and customer reviews like "Gyroscope = EXTREME AWESOME" and "Sounds like the orgasm of a million angels" how could you possibly go wrong?

Well, that's all for this year of 2010. Bucketloads of fun and interesting Gyro related things coming your way as soon as the new year takes hold.

Much love!
Gyro HQ xx

Gyroscope November News

Welcome to the November News

Alright Gyro-fiends, we have some great and exciting t
hings to present to you this time around. The Gyro's have been busy as usual, and we have been following in their wake collecting all kinds of exciting content. But first things first - the Baby I'm Gettin' Better single has gone GOLD! We would like to extend our fondest thanks to all of you who have gotten behind both the single and the Cohesion album. Great work everybody!

Firstly, most locals must be aware by now that the Gyros brought their famous live show to the fore at Perth's Aberdeen St Oktoberfest last month. Seems like things got a little rowdy as the band documented their day via photos on Twitter & Facebook. Check out what a show day is like for the band by taking a squizz at
www.twitter.com/gyroscopemusic.More photos from that show here.

Western Australia sure is being spoilt Gyro-wise of late, with yet another mammoth announcement made - Gyroscope will be joining the mighty The Living End and one lucky winning band in the final JD Set performance of the year. As if this is not good news enough, it's all taking place in the stunning surrounds of Rottnest Island. Tickets are limited (and cheap!) and the promoters are offering discounted ferry ticket options. All the details for that one here:
www.thejdset.com.au

The rest of Australia, however
, is hardly being neglected. Two particularly mouth watering Victorian shows have just been announced. Gyroscope will hit Ferntree Gully Hotel on February 24th and Frankston's Pier Live on February 25th - these shows may be a ways away but don't be fooled, tickets are on sale already. Local upstarts Fangs will be holed up as support and they are so snap up tickets at Oztix: www.oztix.com.au / 1300 762 545.

Amongst the myriad of other opportunities to see the Gyroscope live show there is the Pyramid Rock Festival, Tasmania's MS Fest and of course, the 2011 Big Day Out Tour. All dates below - don't miss the Gyroscope live wagon this summer.

In non-touring news for a moment, Rob took time out last week to step into the shoes of a radio host. He stepped up to the microphone on Nova Perth's breakfast show, and by the looks of these photos he had a damn fine time doing it.

We think Gyroscope have produced some great videos to accompany the singles from Cohesion - and we hope you agree. This Saturday voting will begin for the annual RAGE Top 50 - allowing you to vote to your little hearts content for Gyroscope! You know you want to, right here:
www.abc.net.au/rage/

On the subject of videos, we'll leave you with something to giggle at this time around. Check out the various bloopers and awkward moments captured behind the scenes of Gyroscope's What Do I Know About Pain video. We think that kind of cold would make anybody a little delirious, check out the action here.

More Gyro news coming your way next month as always.
Love,

Gyro HQ xx

Gyroscope October News

Welcome to the October News from

Well, it's pretty hot over in Perth right now, but it doesn't appear to be slowing the Gyroscope juggernaut down in the slightest. There has been such great news coming through in the past couple of weeks that things won't be cooling down for quite some time.

Firstly, in perhaps the most exciting news announced in some time; Gyroscope will proudly join the travelling circus that will be the BIG DAY OUT 2011! Capping off a big summer, Gyroscope will be playing alongside the likes of such musical luminaries as Tool, Rammstein, Iggy and the Stooges, MIA and of course some of Australia's finest talent like Wolfmother, Birds of Tokyo and Angus & Julia Stone. Tickets on sale on different days this year, so hit www.bigdayout.com to make sure you have all the info to see Gyroscope hit the Big Day Out stage for the second time.

Of course there are still plenty of opportunities to see the famed Gyro live show in the lead-up to the Big Day Out. Following a sweltering show upin Broome this past weekend, the band will be raising the roof at a home-town Perth show later this month. Gyroscope will be getting festive at the Aberdeen St Oktoberfest celebrations on October 24th, check out all info here. For fans on the east coast there is the annual Pyramid Rock Festival getting loud over New Years, all info for that one here (another excellent line-up there!) It's been some time since the Gyroscope machine has ventured south to Tasmania, but Launceston's MS Fest will be bringing them to those parts in February. All details for that to be found here. Wow, a whole load of touring news for you this time around!

Next up? Well, we know that Gyroscope fans are famed for their very loyal support of the band, and this is a call out for more of it! Gyroscope have made the Top 50 cut in the 2010 Channel [V] Oz Artist Competition, and they cannot proceed without your votes. Show your support by voting here, and tune into Channel [V] on October 16th to see whether they hit the Top 4. Fingers crossed.

We mentioned this in the last installment of the Gyro news, but we are just so happy with this that we're plugging it again. It's the What Do I Know About Pain? video, and it's tense, striking and exciting. If you have yet to check it out or feel the need to do so again then you can do that right here.

And to round out this relatively brief but news-packed October mailer; a photo of Dan playing whilst standing on a brand new car. Gyroscope played a special winners party last month in Sydney and Nova managed to snap some pretty awesome photos. Check it out.

Okay, that's all until next month. Stay safe.
Love,
Gyro HQ xx
